We need your help

We can’t do this alone. There are 5 key ways you can contribute to our mission—and 5 guidelines to consider as you do so.

FAQs about our features

  • Stories of Color is a free, lovingly curated book catalog and resource for homeschooling families and educators on the pursuit to bring more diverse ideas and representative perspectives to life for their students.

  • Currently, Stories of Color is absolutely free. As in zip, zilch, nada. $0.00.

We’re not a nonprofit. And we’re certainly not some profit-hungry enterprise. Stories of Color is a volunteer-led labor of love that has no revenue goal to speak of. It’s simply a gift that our founder and curator had hoped to find elsewhere, but couldn’t. So she did something about it.

In full disclosure, a few months after our launch, we did add affiliate codes to our Amazon links simply to contribute to the ongoing costs of maintaining the software we use. We’ve also now made it possible for readers to donate to our mission. In the future, we may also charge for certain features we make available, especially if there’s a hard cost to us, but we don’t have any definitive plans to do so.

Regardless of our future features, we can guarantee you one thing for certain: However Stories of Color may evolve, we will never charge for access to the living book lists which remain our core focus. Seriously—those will be free forever. We promise.

  • Though it’s taken a decent amount of time and elbow grease to craft this product and its growing set of features, you should know that Stories of Color is built using software absolutely anybody could leverage. We’re not engineers by any means—we just knows how to cobble together some decent tools and resources.

If you want to get geeky with us and read about all the tools we use to operate, feel free to do so.

  • We’re sorry, but there are limitations to our software for mobile devices. Watch a tutorial to learn all about our powerful book search functionality.

  • Turn to our technical FAQs for help. for the answers and support you need. If that doesn’t work, you can always contact us, too.
