Ana Vargas

Just your typical homeschool mama implementing a Charlotte Mason philosophy of education while juggling family, ministry and life in general. I enjoy all things nature, books, art, and fellowship with friends over a good cup of “cafe con leche.” I’m on a quest to learn to feast on all things good, excellent, and great as I share my journey with others.

Why I care about diversity

“For God so loved the world” is the main reason why diversity matters to me. As an image bearer of Christ, I must walk in His footsteps and love humanity. But how? It is only through the process of building individual relationships and learning about others, their languages, cultures, histories, and experiences, that I can begin to better understand those who look like as well as differ from me. It is in this way that I can begin to live out the saving Gospel of love and hope.

And this is one of the driving forces behind my homeschool. Through a Charlotte Mason Education and the power of living books, I’m on a journey to expose my kids to diverse narratives, all united by the same urgent need for the saving grace and love of Christ. I also want my children to know their own beautiful heritage. Understanding where they come from and being knowledgeable about other cultures will help them build the foundation for future relationships fueled by compassion and service. My desire is to live out this type of education within community.

Therefore, since “God so loved the world”, I must aim to do the same by first acknowledging and understanding the stories of color built into the fabric of our world. Would you like to join me?
